A letter to State Central Committee Members

Dear Fellow Democrat:

 

The 2011 State Party elections are over and I thank each of you for participating in the process. I did not win, but I sure came close, just 2 votes separated Vice Chair Annadelle Sanchez and me. That tells me that 160 people liked what I had to say about accountability as a member of the DNC, communication with County Chairs and Vice-Chairs and working to allocate State Party funds to train and support candidates at every level. The promises I made in my letter and my speech were no more than you should expect from ALL of your State officers! I urge you to  pay attention and demand action from the top on down.

 

State Central members have a huge responsibility to their constituents, the County Central Committees who elected them. That means that if your County officers are not being called by your top elected Party officers, you need to speak up and let those State officers know that you insist they do their jobs! If you are not notified before each DNC meeting and asked for input, you should insist that your voice be heard. If you are not getting a report about what happened at the DNC meetings, you need to insist that you get that report.

 

As we move into the 2012 election cycle, encourage good people in your county to run for office and then insist that the State Party trains them to run and win and allocates seed money to help them start their campaigns. The only way that Democrats will win is if we all pay close attention and hold elected officials responsible!  This does not abdicate you from responsibility as a State Central Committee member. Help the State Party raise the necessary funds, tell the State Party about events in your county, when the DNC members ask for your input, send it and when they report the results of the meetings, thank them.
